This position is responsible for performing advanced professional accounting and financial reporting work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  Responsibilities include preparation of timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements; implementing project accounting concepts for financial planning, budgeting, and reporting; and reviewing control procedures for an appropriate segregation of duties, maintaining yearly audits, cost reports, 990 schedules and supporting information related to the financial activity of BHS Support centers and BHS communities.


  • Maintains multiple BHS Support center and BHS community(s) financial systems to provide management with accurate and timely financial information.
  • Implements activities of all support center and BHS community(s) accounting functions in accordance with GAAP including fixed assets, notes receivable, investments, bond funds, investments in joint venture, notes payable, bonds payable, adjustment of third party accruals, and equity transfers as well as various other general ledger transactions.
  • Manages the processing of BHS support center accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate billings and payments to both internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Develops, supervises and coordinates the financial functions of BHS support center and Participating Organizations to ensure policies and procedures are being followed and systems are in place.
  • Assists with the transition of Participating Organizations in/out of BHS to ensure that policies and procedures are in place and followed.
  • Compiles and prepares fiscal year-end audit information ensuring external auditors have the necessary information to conduct the annual audit for BHS support center and BHS community(s).
  • Prepares and distributes monthly financial analyses of current community operations to ensure the strategic plans for profitability can be developed for each community.
  • Performs accounting work of a varied nature to provide information and support to internal and external customers.
  • Assists the Director, Financial Services and Information Technology (IT) department with the implementation and maintenance of computerized accounting systems in the BHS support center to ensure accurate, consistent, and efficient processing of data and to maximize use of automated accounting systems.
  • Manages the selection, training, development and performance of Corporate Accounting Assistant, Accounts Payable Representatives, Cash Management Coordinator and Financial Accountants to retain a motivated, professional workforce for BHS.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) in Accounting
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive responsibility, preferably in healthcare.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • CPA desirable
