Overview

The Staff Development Director is a clinically competent, registered nurse who assumes responsibility for the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing of the staff development program in accordance with current existing federal, state, BHS and community standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and educate staff on all Federal, State and community education requirements.
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive orientation program for community personnel.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate an ongoing education program for nurses, CNA-NARs and other community personnel based on educational needs as identified in performance reviews, education needs survey, solicits input from managers concerning training needs, and new topics in healthcare.
  • Develop, maintain and secure records of education for all associates.
  • Drive the process of developing, implementing and evaluating community goals, objectives, standards of practice and care, and community policies and procedures.
  • Provide instruction to and observes nursing department personnel.
  • Collaborate with other departments in associate recruitment, orientation, education and retention.
  • Participate in the quality improvement process.
  • Attend education opportunities for their personal development and to maintain professional competency.
  • Coach staff that are participating in a succession development plan and adhere to affirmative action requirements.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse, which must be in good standing
  • Possess skills in leadership and communication
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in long term care
  • Maintains documentation of training offered and regulatory records / CEU’s/ Clock hours

 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • Clinical and teaching experience preferred
  • Belongs to a staff development or other relevant clinical network or association
