  • Overview

    The Youth Counselor is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of programs and treatment plans for residents that are designed to prevent/resolve issues relating to human relations and/or substance abuse. 

    Responsibilities

    Conducts and/or assists in individual or group counseling sessions.  Orients newly arrived residents and staff to the community, rules, policies, and procedures.  Provides guidance and counseling to all residents and may act as school liaison as appropriate.  Provides transportation for residents as directed.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications Required

    • Current state licensure in field of practice, in good standing.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
    • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
    • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
    • Knowledge of community resources.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and caring relationships with residents and their families and friends, community staff, and the general public.
    • Ability to create clear, detailed written and verbal reports.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

    Qualifications Preferred

    • Experience working with a diverse population.
    • Ability to intervene in a crisis situation.

    Additional Information

    This needs to be changed.  The "current state licensure in field of good standing" needs to come out, and providing services to children.  We need it to say "providing services to young adult males"
